New Member Needing Help (please)

Post by BlackEgl3 »

Hi there all i have just got my car last saturday and really want to put some Alloys, Fog lights and a little spolier on the back i saw Jon_PoloV and it looks really sweet can you tell me when you brought your stuff from mate. i would love my car to look like that.

also are the fog lights easy to fit where the bottom grills are.?
and at the mo i have standard 13" wheels wots the biggest i can go up to, i got told 15" because any thing high will start to interfear with the driving/safty on the road. (sorry Very noobish i know)

Thank you Mark

cheers mate :D There is fec all car shops in reading and the ones that are are one step away from a fecing monkey, so your best bet is either mail order or ebay things like that.
my spoiler is actually a vw spoiler they are regularly on ebay for sale. my fog lights came with my car but i know people that have done them themselves, for example thebadun. if you go to mail order vag parts in the forum index there should be something on there about fogs. my alloys are 15's with 195-45-15 yoko tyres. i got my wheels mail order, i just found the cheapest place in a magazine and then orderd different tyres. they usually give you budget tyres in the package and i can tell you they are not worth using! nor are the shabby locking wheel nuts. use mcgaurd wheel nuts! i have also lowerd it 40 mm. i got my lowering kit from www.venommotorsport.com they have a good web site.
hope this helped just let me know if you want to know anything else.

I fitted the front fogs myself in the end, I got the actual lights 2nd hand and the grills and fitting kit from Martyn at VAG parts. The whole kit from VAG parts comes to around £180. I managed to do it for £95 by getting the lights 2nd hand. I'd recomend looking round and seeing what you can get, either off the for sale section of ebay or a scrap yard, cos otherwise it is quite a pricey mod. As Jon says, there are spoilers for sale on ebay the whole time, just check how much its going to cost to get it sprayed, I had a quote for £75. As for alloys, I'm looking for some at the moment. Really depends on the route you wanna go. Some people go for bigger alloys and lowering, but personally I wanna go for OE alloys and a subtle lowering. You got to work out what you want to do and what will look best with your car.

I also think Jon's polo is one of the nicest on here.

Yeah, for starters the insurance on the GTi is a bit mad - quotes ranged from £550 right off the scale at over 3k!!! You're right though, all of us had to start somewhere - I've had a l'il old Mini for the last 4 years whilst at uni before I saw the Polo!

How old are you si-gti?? im buying myself a gti in july. Ill be 21 then. im payin £60 a month for my 1.4 polo at the mo. I've budgeted for upto £100 a month to insure the gti. Looked at afew quotes for wen i re-new in november, (should have 4years ncb) direct line wanted £520 for the year, dont think ill be goin with them as they dont like mods too much, so im goin to see what i get from liverpool victoria. anyone know of any other mod friendly insurance companys.

Me? I'm about 2 weeks away from reaching the grand old age of 23 :D

As for insurance, like you I've got 4yrs NCB and went to Direct Line cos they were the cheapest! Not planning any major mods until the end of this year/beginning of next because the car's under warranty and I'd rather not invalidate it! Still, I should get away with soon-to-be-purchased lowering springs and the K&N filter...

Anyway, my original quote was approx £550 but it's now a bit higher because my Mum is on as a named driver (extra £30) and I protected my NCB (just in case!). Oh and I paid my premium in full - too much interest in monthly payments! Finally - mod friendly insurance? Try Adrian Flux. I haven't tried them but I've heard 'nout but good things...

Kool. cheeres for that, Ill look into it more nearer the time.

I'm not going to go too mad with mods. planning on lowering it 50mm, SS Exaust, BMC induction kit, and maybe some light tints, oh yeh and i plan of getting the HUGE VW badge on the back removed.

Just gotta save and find one for sale, gotta be a silver 3 door with less than 50,000 miles looking at spending upto £7500, but seen lots on autotrader for about 7000.

spoiler!

Post by jon_poloV »

ive only just turned 19 too.
you could put the spoiler of a gti on a mkv but its a bit of a hassel and the spoiler and bits are quite expensive. due to the upper brake light being mounted out onto the spoiler not in the boot if you get me? i think best bet is get the one off ebay, and get a good paint job done. i got vw to spray mine and then i fitted it muself with my bro! ( need 2 people lol!)
wish i had a gti but o well perhaps one day!

totally agree with all the above!
just aint got the cash to insure a Gti!!!
like the induction kit jon, its different than the usual cone shapes, which probably means better air consumption, where u got the air coming from the front grille?
p.s welcome to the forum blackegl!
hope all is well

Thank you for making me welcome guys. sorry if i am annoying but where about on ebay did you get your spolier because when i type it in it only comes up with the Golf MkV i think? and also how much was it to get it sprayed at your VW garage mate. i will be doing the same.

ta if u have msn then Contact me here [email protected] or e-mail me some good vw polo links mate where i could buy all the stuff from. i am finding it hard to get stuff for the polo well the rite model.

and lastly if there a Haynes Manual for our polo yet if so where can i get one. i went to halfords and they only go up to the 99 polo version?

induction kit

Post by jon_poloV »

cheers mate im really pleased with it .ive the air coming in from the grill next to my fog light, there is a large gap there and cold air is rammed up there!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW

that is the same guy i got my spoiler from.

best bet is either pop down to your local vw, or give them a buz.

when search in anything or looking for our parts, the polo you have is often called 6n2 , 00-01, 11/99-01 , mkV.
