Double Dins and Speakers

Post by KennyPOLO_Gti »

Hey folks, what double dins and speakers are people using in their Polo's? Looking at upgrading my audio system and want to see what people have got. Is there any aftermarket companies that offer an upgrade of speakers for the Polo and use the OEM speaker size so no need for cutting out and making them fit.

This is what i'm in the process of doing. Just haven't had the time lately!

You'll find that the original speakers are riveted onto the door so you need to drill them out.
Once you've done that you will then need to buy adapters (I think the golf ones fit not too sure they sell them in halfrauds) or make adapter's out of mdf to space the speaker out from the door. If you don't space the speaker out then when you put your window down it will hit off of the back of the speaker

As for speaker size your looking for 6.5" or 17cm. And personally i would go for alpine as it sounds great and doesn't have to cost a fortune.

pioneer double din avic 900 bt screen/dvd/tv/nav/bluetooth/cd/mp3/ipod/phone

de restricted so your not needing to be stopped to watch a dvd/tv when on the move, for the passengers use not, drivers haha

coupled up to 2 sets of CDT eurosports in custom mdf speaker builds for rigidity that fit behind the standard speaker grills for standard looks

amped by planet audio 4.400w 4 channel amp, 2 ports bridged to run the planet audio big bang 10" sub in custom built box 2 to run the speakers

13 boxes of dynamat extreme in total covering insides of the 2 doors boot and side panels

no pics, but a great built setup, which is crystal clear rather than silly loud, its all about clarity ;)

What firmware have you got on the double din Jeff? Read a lot of bugs on that unit, have you had any at all? What is it like when the sun is out, can you still see the screen easy?

I really want a built in sat nav unit, but want it to look OEM :(

The VW MFD looks ok, but don't know what they're like as a sat nav unit?
