Forge FMIC

Post by Gillen »

I was just wondering who had fitted the Forge FMIC themselves and if it was a difficult job to do?

I'd like to do it myself but don't want to get stuck because I haven't got the right equipment. Are there any more 'specialised' tools that are required for the job? Is it realistic for me to do it myself?

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

When you buy it you get instructions. Fitted it myself very easy to do. :D

How long did it take you on your own mate?

Are the instructions pretty detailed?

Took me a 1/2 day, taking my time on my own.

Nothing too complex, but does help to have a decent set of parts and axle stands. You need to get under the car properly to access the pipework, otherwise its all pretty easy.

probably worth mentioning that the Forge FMIC can be restrictive compared to the stock FMIC.

Yeh I've got some axle stands, a decent jack and have collected a few tools over the last couple of years. My experience is limited to fitting coilovers to my car, hopefully I'll be OK with this!

How is it more restrictive than the standard SMIC? And only sometimes more restricitive? :?

Surely it isn't worth getting if it is more restrictive than the standard one?

Would appreciate some feedback mate

The forge one is litterally double the size of the std unit with double capacity and bigger piping.

apparently the SEAT-SPORT FMIC is a slightly better option than the forge but probably 6 of 1.....

Fitted mine in about an hour or so, piece of piddle to fit, makes it sound a whole lot meatier on the induction too!
