failed mot

Post by polobear888 »

just got back from kwik fit MOT center, and failed my MOT due to CO, readings are 0.535%, which it should be below 0.300%, can someone please tell which part i need to change? and how much it would roughly cost.
the guy told me to get a diagnostic test done on it to see if i get any faults on the lamba sensor, the code reader i have is the VCDS on my laptop, and could this bring up the fault?

PLEASE HELP!

Epc is the engine power control warning it means there is an engine problem which will no doubt be the problem of your emissions failing. Read the codes and see what the problem is mate all codes should still be stored

Mine failed on emissions the other day - 3% CO2 (was 10x over on the other 2 items as well). It was fixed by ragging the car a fair bit, and a bottle of injection/fuel cleaner, and revving it while sitting still to get it hot just before being tested.

Went through fine after that, a cheap option that might be worth trying though? (Worth noting mine had been standing for ~2months prior to the test.)

Do the code read first because if the epc light has been in there is a problem in there sonewhere

P1570 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
P0571 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16514 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Malfunction in Circuit

Definitely needs the rake switch replacing, they're about £8 and easy Peasy not too sure on the lambdas or the Imobiliser :s

Yeah thats the easy job you repairing it yourself or getting the garage to do it? Because the simple fix is to replace the lambda sensor whichever is broken. Invest in a Haynes manual and get your hands dirty ;)
