faster bready.
Got myself a 1045, '83 breadvan which I absolutely love. I'm looking to beef it up but keep it looking as stock as possible, ( maybe tart it a little. Wheels, sexy seats and paint job,) and not kill myself. I just read somewhere that a 1300-1600 bike engine is a potential upgrade. I'm not a mechanic so could someone shed some light on this please? I imagine either would fit into the engine bay but how would the this affect the gear box: would the transmission need to be modified to fit the engine. And would it affect the bhp of the engine given that the polo body is heavier than the bike body the engine is intended for? Also, would the exhaust have to be custom built to be compatible and would this affect the costs of repairing/maintenance in the future?
Re: faster bready.
Alot of people are now fitting 1.4 16v AFH (Mk4 Polo) engines in with 'relative' ease.
Standard 100bhp, with bike carbs and other bits 150bhp.
