I recent bought a GTI and upgraded from a pd100 9n3... although my GTI is high spec, so not really a standard car, I love it. The build quality of the GTI is fantastic and there are so many tasteful Mods available for the GTI unlike some of the civics I see where even a simple exhaust change can make it look quite 'chavvy'. I know for a fact that a standard GTI will
Beat a standard cooper S after speaking to Buzzmototsport on this forum who has a white GTI. Will ask him to leave his thoughts on a cooper S compared to a GTI. You may see this as slightly bias but there's a reason why I didn't diverse from the vag group and this is because of the quality of the car and the performance. Sorry if I have offended any civic drivers, it's just my opinion and not fact.

It's all down to what you really want to do mate obviously people can advise you but go with your heart. I'd rule out the mini I couldn't feel manly getting out of the mini. :p the civics easy 300+bhp with a supercharger :D and already 200 without 50 above the gti but the tunability of the gti is a lot more due to the turbo.

Theyre all good cars in my opinion!

its definitely going to be a project thats for sure i just thought with the civic its a chance to have a bigger car, but i like the subtleness of the polo if i did get a gti its my 3rd polo and not sure if i want one, if i get a gti its going for the ihi turbo kit if i get a civic its getting rotrex supercharged... tough choice!

For me i choose the polo for its performance but subtleness at the same time. My friend has literally just bought a standard cooper s r53 not john cooper works but still. I like the superchargers continuos acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear but it seems to run out of pull whereas the GTI keeps pulling. I quite easily pulled away from it to be honest and not biased.

The turbo just feels so much more effortless, not constantly having to rev the engine to move briskly!

If fuel isnt a problem then the civic type r would probably be the most fun!... but i couldnt justify and worse mpg than my gti as im only 18.

Test drive them all and then decide! But i think going from the polo to the civic the quality feel wont be there!

My thoughts anyway.

Might have misread you here, but did you mean the GTI has a better general build quality than other Polos of the same age?

I fell in love with the stock interior/exteriors mods on a GTI as soon as I saw it. Definitely something special but still very subtle which ticks very low on the chav-counter.

Like the OP I'm also torn between a pd100 or a GTI, will be watching this thread.

People claiming their standard GTI's have beaten stock JCW Cooper S's are s**t. The GTI is level with a stock non works Cooper S.

If I were to buy again I'd get a Cooper S over a GTI...
