The problem is that most of the current VW ones have a curved face plate, so don't fit into the double DIN hole in the 9N3. The only ones that fit are the MCD and the MFD (not the MFD 2) systems, and they are a bit dated. The MCD was the one fitted to the 9N3 as an optional extra from factory but doesn't have mapping, just a directional arrow.
To be honest, unless you really want to keep it completely OEM, then you're better off getting an aftermarket one. The nav system will be of better quality and you'll probably get more functions and convenience for the same cash. I went down the aftermarket route after being in the same position. I got a Pioneer system and it's fantastic. Worth a thought at least...
