Air Filters - Advise

Post by Crisis »

Im looking for an air filter. Dont wanna spend to much. Mainly getting one for the 'sound' factor.

Price Range: Upto £75

Any adivse on whats good? What to avoid? Im going to Max Power Live on July 4th so Im going to look there and maybe get one cheap. Just want to get that quite bit of vital advise before I go and leap on something that just aint right.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 7&tc=photo - Any good?

What make? K&N/Green/Powertec/Raid?

Let me know, Im counting on your knowledge.

1.0L Polo 6N :)

It probably gives you 1 bhp more, gives out a nice rasp sound.

Is your 1.0l multi point injection or single point?

im selling it because I’ve bought a GTI!

its very easy to fit!!!!!

Really? Cause I just read that some 1.0L because the engine is so small it makes no difference in sound.

I have no idea what it is. Its a 1.0 L T ('99) 3 DR if that helps. 6N.

air filters!

it would defo make a sound difference because the engine is not restricted in sucing in air and the sound is not muffled by the old air intake.

Sadly I dont, about 2hours away.

Is there any difference in Air filters by brand? Or do all air-filters do pretty much the same thing, by the same amount.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1

Cause that is £18.

http://affilate.potn.com/product_info.p ... id/1505190

K&N Airfilter Kit £68 - 2 much, but anyway.

How much would P&P be for that anyway? I will get it off you if I dont see any at Max Power (goin 4th July) if you still have it.

You'll be best off with a replacement induction kit, otherwise I'd get a replacement k&n panel filter, but would definitely not go for the standard air filter cone kit that's open to the atmosphere - it'll reduce the power.

am going to test a 1.4 8v induction kit soon on my bird's car - this won't be too expensive. will post the results / prices soon! (it should fit the 1.0L if it fits the 1.4)

Okay Im not gonna bother with it now. I was just doing it for a cheap thing, that WONT effect insurance (being 17) and for a little sound change. But induction kits, more pricy, more insurance. And yeh Im sure it will do wonders on a 1.4, but not on a 1.0.
