Gear problems :X

Post by colour_concept »

Hi all,

been a while since i logged on here, polos been behaving well until recently

i noticed in the last week or so that getting into gear 1 is proving a little tricky. Sometimes it goes in smoothly, sometimes it needs a lil push to get it in. Also noticed that when i go into gear 2, sometime its as if its not going in smooothly and as if its catching something as i put it into gear. Hard to explain but as if something isnt sychnronised as it should be. Im not using major force to get it into gear but it does need a lil push. Sometimes it will work fine however. Its a very strange but very common problem that can happen at anytime and totally random as well. Just comes and goes but i only drive short distance so maybe the problem exists and just hasnt got worse yet so isnt showing all the time.

No idea what it could be, just wandering on suggestions or pointers if anyone has experienced anything similar. Had the gearbox replaced maybe 2-3 years ago, new clutch fitted and pedal box done sometime in the last 18months. Been searching through this forum, possibly linkages? clutch cable?

cheers buddy, will get that tried.

Noticed that 1st gear is sticky at times and 2nd gear is clunky, best way to describe it :)

Also when slowing down and coming to a stop in traffic for example, the car sometimes feels as though its about to stall and then comes back again. Very odd, the rev counter goes down too, and then boucnes back up. Not sure if this is related to the clutch/gearbox issue.

Gonna get it booked into a garage but just want to make sure they dont try overcharge me for a simple job
