Running rough

Post by odin7s »

Not to sure what to to with this one, will try and explain tho :?

1. engine started to run with intermittent power loss
2.engine management light came on
3. checked and cleaned spark plugs
4. checked leads
all sorted then...
5. had plenty water and oil but noticed engine was well too hot
6. so checked water, too hot , both hoses very hot and fan doesn't seem to be coming on.

Had a look about the forum and I'm now thinking thermostat any ideas anyone please.
also is the fan going to be a separate issue ?

:D

If both hoses are hot, the thermostat is likely working, however maybe not properly

You should look into replacing the thermostat, and the radiator temp swith that controls the fan

Its possible also the fan has failed, though its more likely to be the rad temp switch

While you are at it do a full coolant change with genuine vw g13 coolant and clean the throttle body out with carb/intake cleaner spray ;)
