RCD 310 to RCD 510 anyone?

Post by Wilxay »

Has anyone done this conversion and is it a simple as it sounds? I'm not fitting the RNS 510 so I don't need a GPS aerial. Do I just take out the old and fit the new? Do I need to change any coding with VAG COM?

Straight swap. No coding should be needed.

Yeah got the touch kit. Buts but it's built in to the radio because it mutes when there is a phone call. Or when it's playing music from my iphone.

Yeah, thats just interfaced in. The RCD510 works in the same way, so no coding/changes are needed.

I'm hoping so! Is it any better for controlling music through MDI because its horrible turning the knob for days trying to find a song or artist you want to play.

Right do I need to remove the radio code from the car for the 310? I know what the code is because it's on a printout in the cars manuals. If I do need to remove it, how?
