For those of you with HID's

Post by jammydodger »

Just thought I'd give you lot a bit of advice with fitting HID's. I know that a fair few of us have them and just used tape of glue to hold them in. All I can say is use a pair of bloooooomin' bulb holders! I just glued them in at first and guessed if they were central and I was happy with the beam pattern, but when I got a replacement because the old one died, I thought why not use the factory holders instead of the glue? I fed the wires through the holder and installed the bulb back in with a bit of fiddling! I can't believe that I thought the old beam pattern was good, it's really sharp now, you can clearly see the cut off point before it just looked like a blur. I'll get some pics tomorrow night of the new beam pattern. I just fed the wires through the holder but the big rubber grommet was a pain to squeeze through.

These are the same bulb holder with a bit cut out to allow the wires to pass though. Totally worth it IMO as the light is more useable as well as safer!
Hopes the helps you all! :)

So did you cut the bulb holder bits or buy the rclick ones?

Neither, I just fed the wires through, I had to take apart one of the plugs (10secs to take apart ad put back together) job done. Much easier to change the bulb now if they ever do decide to fail and come not time! :D
