Just bought a 2011 plate polo gti in black, test drove it today & love it ,
Only thing is the wheels on it have been powdercoated black
is it worth buying new ones or get them refurbed back to standard ?

If they are done well why not keep them?
Do you mean buy the same alloys new? Not to be rude but where is the logic there?
If you like the alloys and don't want to change, id get them sandblasted and resprayed, but if you can see yourself changing them in the future, or want different alloys sell them and buy new ones.

Just don't like the black on black look!
It's just the standard polo gti alloys but i prefer the alloys you get with the silver with black (think there called monzas)?
Just wondering if this can be done on a refurb or i would have to buy new ones!

In the UK thry're called
Monzas on pre 2013 (i think) GTIs - all silver
Monza Shadows on 2013 & later with the diamond cut polished surface and gloss black inserts. I'm afraid you don't see many of these come up for grabs second hand.
Bear in mind that changing the wheels, rather than just painting or coating them, you will need to inform your insurer and it make make a difference to your premiums. Any excuse for an extra couple of quid.
If I were you and didn't like the colour or finish I'd get them sandblasted and then powder coated in a gunmetal colour.

The original alloys which you already have are called Monza's. You want the Monza shadows, also known as Detroit's.
You want to find a reputable company that does diamond cutting. I had a quotation to do my rims which included sand blasting, powder coating them gloss black and then diamond cutting the front face. Total cost was around £420 which included removal of tyres and refitting / balancing. Considering having them done when I remove my rota grids this summer. Hope that's of some help to you anyway

Picking the car up tommorow so will look into getting them done over the weekend, never been so buzzing in my life haha, From a corsa c sri to a polo gti, like chalk & cheese
