Questions galore, need some help lads!

Post by IZVVC »

Hey guys, well I'm finally back on my Polo upgrade game, and I just have some few questions to ask if anyone could help me!

First of all I'm looking to upgrade my steering wheel from the standard polo steering NO multifunction wheel, and was looking to see if it would be possible to upgrade to the steering wheel that the 2013 MK7 GOLF has, I think this is the same steering wheel used on the new POLO 6C but I'm not too sure, and I have attached an image below. :?: Image

Secondly, I was scrolling through VCDS and saw the flashing emergency brake option for my car, i didn't tick it however as I wanted to know if it actually works and looks good, does anybody else have this feature, I've seen it on a couple of luxury cars but dunno if it looked and flashed as sharply as it does on those luxury cars.

Thirdly I wanted to ask whats everybody's opinion on xenons, Im really looking to get some, but i know the trouble they can bring as they won't be factory ones, has anybody got them fitted, how do the police treat ya, and does MOT go smoothly?

Fourthly i turned on the confirmation noise for unlock and lock on vcdd but, i really don't like the horn noise it gives its way too loud, I was looking for more of the twirling noise instead, doess anyone know how i can get this at all

ANY HELP WHAT SO EVER IS SO APPRECIATED GUYS! THANKS!

Anything is possible if you throw enough money and time at it! :D

The steering wheel should physically fit, as in the splines and slip ring holes, but you will of course need a new airbag and unless the new wheels are different the one in the pic seems to be missing a controller. You will also need to run some wires from the wheel loom to your convenience module and the right set of buttons won't work unless you have the 'high line' dash module. I'm fairly new to this Polo upgrade lark, but that's my understanding.

Re the flashing brake option, I'd never noticed that tick box in VCDS. I do know the feature you're talking about though, but whether it's actually fitted to your car I don't know. Not everything with a tick box in VCDS actually enables something physically if you see what I mean.

Re retrofitting Xenon's, this is one of those personal things really. To be road legal, you need automatic levelling and headlight washers to be fitted, end of. In reality, the police probably won't bother you if your headlights are setup/aimed correctly and they aren't too blue. They are getting more savvy regarding aftermarket Xenon's and will issue a ticket for you to get it MOT'd, or an on the spot fine if the car is subject to an offence. With MOT's, again, they are getting more switched on with regard to aftermarket Xenon's but again if not too blue and aimed correctly many will not look too hard.

My last three cars have all had factory fit Xenon's for the simple reason that if I'm unfortunate enough to be involved in a serious accident, the sort where my car is taken away and subjected to inspection, I don't want any come back re lights especially if anybody else is saying they were dazzled etc. I know it's a remote possibility, I don't plan on having a serious accident, but the thought of that and also possibly having insurance annulled due to it means it's a risk not worth taking in my opinion.

But that's just me, and obviously many people do have aftermarket kits or retrofit headlights without levelling and washers, and have no trouble. Even if you declare the mod to your insurer, which you should, in accepting they would be making the assumption that it complies with the relevant construction and use regulations, which it won't unless you also have washers and self levelling systems installed. Your call really.

To get the beeps, and not the horn sound, when locking and unlocking the car, you need the factory fit alarm system/siren. Again, it can be retrofitted I'm sure, but wouldn't be cheap or easy I expect.

Thanks Tooks and Ciclo, the steering wheel looks like a lot of trouble, i just want a flat bottom steering wheel, with multifunction controls, I thought it would be a simple swap, ahhh i wish VW made things easier

Ill the flashing brake lights a go lads, and ill update about it later!

And i think ill just give the Xenons a pass!

But most importantly does anyone know how I can get the lock confirmation sound change to a nicer tweet tweet noise?

The confirmation tweets, as opposed to the horn, come from the alarm siren.

If your car doesn't have an alarm, then the only options are horn or nothing I'm afraid.

I've tried to find a way to do it on my friends 1.2 TDI, but no success.

Hi all,
Apologies in bumping an old thread but I have a few questions. I have a 1.2s + winter pack that will be seeing a few mods over the next year or so. The first batch of things I want done are mfsw, cruise control and a new instrument cluster.

Later down the line I will be retrofitting folding mirrors (already brought) so I know I need to get my BCM swapped out for 7H0 937 090

This is where I get lost though, I'm guessing that I need new modules for the Golf R20 mfsw and cruise control. I've looked on Kufatec & Vagtune and I think i need
6QO953513AN - CC stalk + Wiring
5K0971584A - MFSW wiring harness
1K0953549CD or 1K0953549CH CC/MFSW modules.
5K0953569B or 5K0953549H, looks to be included with? http://www.vagtune.com/volkswagen/vw-st ... olf-detail

Anyone able to offer any guidance?
Many thanks in advance
