Not long to goooo. Getting more and more impatient lol
Hi. When did you order. My car seems to be taking ages. Already gone back from Week 9 to Week 11 build.
Well my case is slightly different, I didnt exactly factory order the car. Basically I managed to find a car that was already ordered by the dealership which was originally supposed to go into their showroom. It matched the specifications of what I wanted almost exactly so I put down a deposit for it and I guess it's mine now hehe. I did this end of Jan and the car already had a confirmed build week.
Yeah it does seem to take ages but I'm sure the wait will be worth it! Just hang in there

Thanks for the information. Hopefully not long to wait now and I guess the wait will be worth it. Anybody else ordered in December 2014 with a confirmed build week?
Dink wrote:so why wasn't the adaptive cruise control avaliable on the GTI but is on the blueGT?
I think it is available. The online configurator doesn't seem up to date. When I initially visited a dealer, there were a few options for the GTI that you couldn't see online
Both the brochure and the price list show cruise control as available for the GTI - as part of the Cruise and Park Pack. Although that suggests it's just normal cruise control; not adaptive.
I thought the centre armrest came as standard in the GTI?
Also in my 6C manual it says the sport button only has the two modes: Sport and Normal, something I have read elsewhere, yet the pricelist does suggest 3 modes. Strange.

I thought so too. I definitely remember seeing it on the standard specification list and now it's disappeared from there and has become an added option...
Well compared to my wifes Polo R Line which we traded in, the GTI feels pretty similar. The main differences being, as you would expect, a firmer ride and more action under your right foot!
We collected the car from Specialist Cars VW in Aberdeen. Pick up was painless and came with a free bottle of champagne.
We then drove home, 35 miles on various road types. The car feels very eager and almost like its on a leash waiting to run off! Unfortunately, running in means we had to hold it back for a few miles. The suspension is firm, but not overly so. Considering the hot hatch abilities, the suspension is pretty forgiving. The gearbox is slick and slots in to any gear with no effort. The throttle pedal is light, as is the clutch. This really is an effortless car to drive.
The steering is like most modern steering systems. It gives pretty good feedback but it aint like cars of old where you can feel everything thats going on beneath you.
Seats are nice and supportive and very comfy.
Early days, but the exhaust has a nice little rasp to it.
On the steady drive home, we averaged 42mpg, according to the computer.
All in all, my wife LOVES her new car.....and Im liking it a lot myself! I drive an Evoque but had a BMW M135i before that...the Polo is giving me back a little bit of the oommff that I miss since trading in my BMW!

Great stuff, glad u both like it. Any squeaks or rattles? This question will sound odd maybe but its a pet hate of mine and I've had cars suffer from the word go. Also have u had chance to try the stereo, what's the sound quality like as forgot to try it fully when I test drove.
There is a tiny buzz type sound coming from the drivers front corner dash somewhere.....
Im not worried about it just now,as weve owned lots if new cars over the years and these type of noises frequently dissapear as the car settles in....apart from that, no other noises, the car is very refined considering its a wee pocket rocket!
As for the stereo, for standard fit its perfectly acceptable, certainly nothing amazing but more than good enough for us!
The stereo in my Evoque is a Meridian system which sounds amazing, the VW system lacks the Meridians clarity and seperate bass/treble definition, but as I say, its plenty good enough for general listening. Sounds very similar to the RNS510 I had in my Golf GTI many years ago!
Yeah they do settle down after a while I've had that. In the 3 or 4 VW's I've test drove recently I've been quite impressed with them in that respect. The ST I tested on the other hand was plagued with various sounds
so i've emailed vw to see what's going on with the arm rest as i would of liked that. the interior selection on the configurator still shows it having one.

Good idea! Please let us know as I was under the impression that the car came with an arm rest but that might not be the case anymore
