recently purchased a 6n2 for my daughters first car, a non runner that the seller claimed just required a new engine speed sensor (diagnosed by vw main dealer) but they lacked the know how to change it and the garage qoute wasnt worth it with the value of the car, they even sold me the car with a new bosch sensor
when i got the car home and commenced work it became apparent the aluminium housing that the sensor mounts to has been snapped off! so, my question is what does the sensor mount to? is it the gearbox or is it the engine? its right smack bang where the two mate together and when i looked at a second hand engine for sale on ebay i couldnt see the mount anywhere?
Its a 1.4mpi AUD engine and ETD 5 speed box

Re: engine speed sensor major problem
Mounts onto the engine behind the starter motor
It's fixable - I would suggest taking it to a decent independent garage
It's imperative it's fitted too so it's not like it can even be coded out
