The little red light in the small compartment behind the front 12V socket hasn't been working for months, had its 3rd annual service today and asked for them to look at it as its under warranty still (just). On the paperwork they said it was the socket and not the bulb that was faulty... but didn't fix/replace it. As it wasn't the bulb surely they should have fixed the fault under the warranty? Thoughts?

Probably a silly question but did you ask them to repair rather than report?

I did, and now they have only reported it on it surely they know I'm going to go back and want it fixing? A socket would be under warranty I'd expect? I know the bulb wouldn't be

There's a possibility they didn't have the part(s) in stock to do the repair on the day, hence why they only reported on it. However, I'd expect them to tell you this so you could've re-booked another appointment while you were already at the dealers.mustykj wrote:I did, and now they have only reported it on it surely they know I'm going to go back and want it fixing?
That would be my assumption.mustykj wrote: A socket would be under warranty I'd expect? I know the bulb wouldn't be

I'd agree with that logic, I'd expect that that part is not a dealer stocked item, maybe you missed the comment "we'll contact you when parts arrive"?SRGTD wrote: There's a possibility they didn't have the part(s) in stock to do the repair on the day, hence why they only reported on it. Re: Centre Compartment Light not working linked to 12v?
I took it back in and they informed me that I'd 'rammed' something in the 12V socket which had caused the bulb to blow (he even said cheap 12v phone chargers from china can cause the 12v to short out - which I don't have anyway) - load of rubbish. Told them I rarely even used the 12V socket, but I'd tested that the day before I took it in again and it was working fine. All of a sudden his reason was that it could be a blown fuse and he continues to babble on, so it's going back in in a week and if it's just a blown bulb or fuse then I've asked him to ring me with a price, anything else should be covered by warranty as I've certainly not mistreated/rammed anything into the 12V socket.

You seem to be dealing with idiots, it will soon be time to "name and shame" that dealer, maybe give VW UK a call first to see if they can drum some sense into that dealership - then "name and shame"?

Re: Centre Compartment Light not working linked to 12v?
so the car went in today, phone call at ten to 5 when i'm due to go get it, they'd ordered the wrong part so it has to go back tomorrow. They've said the part is coming on tonights delivery so it can be fitted tomorrow. Would I be in the wrong to ask for the new bulb/fuse thrown in there too for the inconvenience if either of these turns out to be broken too along with the new socket?
