High clutch bite!

Post by lmaynard »

Hi there,
Im new to the forum so sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I have a 2015 polo tsi. It has only done 15k miles but the clutch bite seems very high which i have just started to notice. It is possible that it has always been this way and that i have just never noticed it.
When i say high i mean the bite doesnt start until the last 1.5-2 inches of the pedal. To disengage the clutch you only need to press the pedal around an inch.
The clutch does not seem to be slipping. I have done the tests trying to pull away in 5th and flooring the gas in 5th etc and it has either stalled or struggled but no clutch slip.
My question is, is this normal for a clutch on these cars?? J was always led to believe a high clutch was a sign it was on its way out but surely not after only 15k?? I really hope not because the clutch isnt covered by the VW warranty!
Any help you could give would be HUGELY appreciated.

Thanks

They do have a high bite point. My Dad's just got a Seat Leon and it's exactly the same - and threw him too to start. You get used to it!
