Evening all!
I'm new to the forum and a relatively new owner of a 2011 1.2 tdi, i just have a few questions as my knowledge of cars is terrible, i'm a biker not a car man but i am a motorcycle mechanic so it's a case of doing it once and i'll know it forever!
My door warning light is on, permanently, my front passenger door was causing trouble and bringing the light on and off however it is not just on, i am assuming this is a faulty sensor?
I replaced my front passenger window cables not long ago (many hammers thrown) and since then my airbag light has been on, i had the keys removed and away from the car throughout the repair, i removed the impact sensor so i can only assume this is what has caused the airbag light, however after having my friend plug it in and wipe the code, the code then reappeared on startup, would this be a faulty/broken sensor needing replaced?
I am looking at replacing my headlights and side lights to LED bulbs as i use them on the bike and they are far superior, the manual states different bulbs whether or not yours is a model with gas discharged headlights, judging by the brightness i am assuming my bulbs are not HID or XENON and simply H7's, can anybody confirm this without having to remove the headlight as i really don't want to have to remove them twice.
Many Thanks,
Kyle

Re: New Guy Questions
Welcome
If you did not have an accident, the problem is not likely to be the impact sensor, I think it's a wires problem.
Check that all door connectors are securely plugged in, the one of the door (T28 ... 28-pin) mainly. (unplug and replug)
e.g

Also check that the door interior wires were not damaged with so much hammering.
Then re-clear the airbag fault (your friend).
With luck you will solve both problems (warning lights on instruments)
Show us an image of your headlight or one exactly the same.
e.g H7 bulbs (with a normal tungsten filament)

e.g Bixenon

Draw your own conclusions.

Re: New Guy Questions
i agree with ciclo that there might be a wiring issue concerning the airbag light.
the airbag malfunction may only have occurred once, but the light will stay on until you cleared the so called DTC (a saved error in the memory of your airbag computer).
the headlight unit could also be a H4 light unit, since many of the 1.2 TDI models have been sold as trendlines
H4 halogen headlight:

Re: New Guy Questions
So i unplugged the connectors from the door that was initially bringing the light on (front passenger), gave the wires the technical jiggle, all seemed well, plugged it back in, no difference, repeated for all door connectors with no difference
There was no excessive damage from the hammering
It would also appear that i have a H4 unit, stupid me didn't think to actually look at the bulb, so what type of side light am i running? i know i can get a H4 LED but i'm not sure if i can get an LED for my side light as i definitely do not know what type i have now lol.

Re: New Guy Questions
Since we're in the new guy questions, and I still feel like one, there's no point in making another thread so, I'm just going to ask here:
1. Where do you guys usually connnect your GND wires when dealing with inside harnesses ( relays, etc ). In the erWin file, it says 277 - Earth connection 3, interior wiring harness. I know from iichel I can just connect my GND wire to the specified harness GND ( brown wire ) ... but ... where do I find that interior wiring harness ?
Is there another earth connection that's easier to get access to ?
2. Do you know where I can find some mini-fuse ( eg. SC53 ) terminals ? After doing some search, I could find something like junior power timer ( jpt ) but ... not quite sure, is that correct ?
Asking because I bought some wiring and it just doesn't fit in my fuse holder ( C - SC53 - 5A mini-fuse )
Tried replacing the terminal with some other terminal, similar to JPT ( still didn't fit ). So if you know what fits in there, please let me know ... otherwise i'm just going to glue the wire directly to the fuse
