First Car

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy my first car and really interested in a 2011/12 Match. The TSI is slightly out of budget so looking to it would have to be the normal 1.2 engine. What are the main things to look out for when buying used, and are there many differences between 2011 and 2012 models?

I use public transport for work so the car will mostly be used for city driving although we do make long distance drips on M roads on the weekends occasionally.

Maximum budget of 5.5k

Any other advise would be greatly appreciated.
