Please help! No idea about cars

Post by Whatpolodoyoudrive »

Hello! I've just bought my first ever car (a Polo SE) and have literally no idea about the mechanics of cars.

I've had it about 3 weeks and am experienced a low, fairly quiet rumbling coming from the engine when I'm in 4th and 5th gear. It seems to be coming from the left side of the engine, and it only occurs when I'm accelerating - when I take pressure off of the accelerator, the noise disappears. It's a brand new Polo, with about 150 miles now. All I have to compare it to is my driving instructors car (a diesel BMW!).

I'm completely clueless about what this could be. I've googled it a fair amount and there is lots of conflicting information out there, so was wondering whether someone could reassure me in layman's terms? Is this something to worry about?

Car seems to run absolutely fine other than that!

Thankyou, and sorry for the vagueness!

Hello, welcome.

At this time you should not worry about any noise from you new car, what has to happen it'll happen anyway. It'll be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Enjoy your new car, ...this should be your main concern with a big smile.
I hope reassure you in layman's terms.

PS: we've all had cars that looked like they made suspicious noises when they were new...

Get straight into the dealers, and get it sorted without delay.
