Ex-Police 6R GTI
Hi Everyone, this is my first post and I have used the search bar to try and find the info I need but had no luck yet.
Last August I picked up an ex-police GTI, and as usual the police have removed pretty much everything.
I want to replace the spare wheel as that is missing too but I’m struggling to find out what size it is. I’m guessing it does actually fit over the battery which is in the spare wheel well......or would the car have come with a compressor and a can of tyre weld?
Any help is much appreciated.

It would have come with a temporary spare wheel as standard. Yes it does fit over the battery. Tyre size is 125/60/R18. Not sure of the wheel offset.
Edit: That is the size of the 6c GTI. 6R may be different.

How much of the rest of the tools does that car now still have, what I mean is, you might need to visit a scrappy to get a full tool kit and jack?

I’m gonna need the lot! The only thing it came with was the owners manual

Re: Ex-Police 6R GTI
Did you get the security "nut" for the locking wheel bolts - or did the police bin the security bolt and fix a normal one in place on each wheel?
Ebay must be the place to get any paperwork packs if you want/need one?

I'm surprised the police even used Polo GTi's as patrol cars, is this a car from Dorset Police?

I'm guessing that that police force were just trialling that type of car for some specific jobs in mind?

I believe they were used predominantly for training purposes.
The one thing you can be sure of with ex plodmobiles is that they have been run in.

Re: Ex-Police 6R GTI
I haven’t even checked to see if it has locking wheel nuts as it has covers over all the nuts. I’ve got no key though so that should be fun.
As for it’s history, it is an ex Sussex police car, for some reason they have painted the brake calipers silver, removed the GTI badge from the grille and painted the red stripes on the grill black.....probably to make it look like a standard Polo.

Perfect, so it is a sleeper, maybe keep it that way, maybe a single "1.4" on the rear would complete things?PoloDave75 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 9:13 pm I haven’t even checked to see if it has locking wheel nuts as it has covers over all the nuts. I’ve got no key though so that should be fun.

I hope you sort out the has it/hasn't it got a single security bolt on each wheel soon, lady luck has a nasty habit of failing you when you don't know.
