Should I keep my car? Please help!

Post by OfficialUmey »

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and I am a beginner with the cars stuff as I've been driving for just over 2 years. I'm not sure if this is the right topic/forum to be in, but please do let me know so I can correct it.

In June 2019, I bought a 2015 VW Polo 1.2 TSI SE Design (reg plate: AO15EAM) in cash. I used to drive a 2004 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 since 2017. After driving in my Polo for few weeks, I feel that the 1.2 TSI engine isn't fast enough for me. Fast forward to the cars online search, I saw this 2014 VW Polo 1.4 BlueGT S-A (reg plate: EN64LYW) with just under 35k mileage on the dashboard. But, I want to know if this is also turbocharged like my current 1.2 Polo have? Will it make difference if I swap my 1.2 car with the 1.4 car like acceleration? Is it worth it?

Thanks for reading and I hope you could help me with this. :)

Check out the reviews and road tests on the two different models, or better still, take a Blue GT out for a test drive. Much sportier model with big wheels and lowered sports suspension etc. Looking just at performance you will find The Blue GT, which has the 1.4 TSI engine, very different to your 1.2. The 1.2 has 90hp compared to 150hp for the Blue GT. 0-60 acceleration times 10.8 and 7.8 seconds respectively. Quick enough for you? Be prepared for the firmer ride and higher insurance though.

I take it you like driving fast then?! A 2014 Blue GT with low miles is quite a lot of money to spend when you've not been driving for that long. A pre 2014 Blue GT will be 138BHP, 10 less than the 2014-2017. You could get a remap on your car which will give more economy as well as faster acceleration with BHP taken from 90-130. Most places will charge £300-400, but obviously it will make your insurance cost more
