2012 6R weird washer pump issue

Hi all.
I have been scratching my head for a few days over this one.... My front windscreen washer decided to stop working. It was intermittent at first, but has now stopped completely. The rear works fine. There is only one pump controlling both front and rear. I have swapped the fluid lines so switching the rear washer on controls the front, this tells me that there is no blockage either. There are no blown fuses and the wiring looks fine. I have swapped in 2 new pumps and this has not resolved the issue. I have also had a multi meter on, which displays 11.5 v when the switch is activated. The relay also clicks on and off.

Perhaps the steering column switch is broken. If possible, try to measure the outgoing current.

Im not sure this is the problem. The wipers activate as if the washer pump has activated, and you can here the relay switch on when you try to use the washers

Using the law of averages and complaints on these VW Group motoring forums, I'd agree that it is probably the stalk control, for Polo, Fabia and Ibiza of that build period, many ended up with faulty/failed stalks.
