Heat and Aircon becomes weak mid driving

Post by gabet502 »

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my 2016 VW polo.

The strength of the blower seems to massively drop 20-30 minutes into a drive. If I change the strength on the control panel I can hear the motor speed up or slow down but the change to the airflow seemingly minimal.

I've read it could be the resistor but I'm unsure.

Any help would be massively appreciated

could be the resistor ? , i replaced mine & it all worked fine again, but whatever you do dont put it the new one back in wrong as it burns the pollen filter , i didnt realize it went in a certain way , the bottom pic is the wrong way coz it sat across the edge of the pollen filter , luckily it didnt set me car alight, tho other pic shows the resistor in a parallel position for when the filter goes back in .
its a fiddly job & without realizing you can easily put resistor in wrong so i would advise gettin ya phone camera underneath so you can see how youve put it in .

If that car has auto AC system, ie a digital controller, then if it is set on AUTO that will just be the system either reducing the fan speed as the temperature is nearing the setpoint, or changing the areas it is directing the air to within the passenger cell.
