Dashboard removal

Last weekend I decided to report the part number of upper and lower trim column steering.

During the re-installation of the cluster I failed, and one of the two screw drops in the lower part of the dash.
I was lucky and the screw was visible. It was on the right side of the fuse box (left steering wheel).

First and second attemps failed and during the third one, it goes away even lower in the dashboard.
I estimated her location between the "foamed" plastic and the black one.

Here a picture to explain:

-Red arrow indicates the "foamed plastic"
-Red square indicates the marks made by the screw during the first two attemps.

Two solutions:

With a magnet, pull up the screw and try to get it.
Remove all the dashboard and collect the screw.

To be honest if I can avoid the dashboard removal, it could be great.
I also think to remove the center console (upper part) to have latteral access but it's a supposition and need to be confirmed.

In fact, removing the dashboard is not a complicated task. I'm an aicraft technician so I know how using a task card.
But VW's one are quite messy to be honest. Even a friend, dealer in the VW's group confirm this fact to me.

I'm also scared by the airbags; very sensitive parts.

You can clearly heard the screw's sound percuss against the plastic.

Hahaha I've dropped a few screws from the cluster but they never fell where you pointed. At end they always fall near the driver footwell. They end up first above the steering column, then under, on top of fuse box and on driver footwel.
Pull the dash because one screw hahah, go get a new torx screw
It happens, people drop all sort of things not just screws

It's seems to be "over kill" but on bad road I can hear it and it's...annoying.

Little update fox concerning my issue

I found a solution: here it is

On this photo you can see some holes right above the fuse box. My screw is at the bottom of this sort of structure.
So I will not have to uninstall the entire dashboard but just only the center consol and the radio/climates control.
