Up to this point in time, I've just bought Pagid discs and either Textar or Pagid pads - where possible with no real logic other than this is what VW Group tended to do during initial assembly, Textar pads in the front and Pagid in the rear.

What do you mean? Sport driving or ?
Great but less expensive:
- Ferodo
-TRW
- Negative no paint coating on the discs- estetics rust. Great quality: price
A bit more expensive
Textar
Ate - superior to brake disc quality. Both no issues good, paint coating - less prone to rust
Bosch is also great, but you cant beat ferodo front discs set ~35 Eur
Ate rear set ~35 Eur
Pads ok: trw, ferodo, jurid, bosch, textar, brembo, valeo-soft. Etc.
Performance pads, EBC etc...
Any of mentioned are bullet proof options and there wil be no disc warping with any of these.
Many of the mentioned brands are the firs/ out of factory installment on many brands.

Re: What would be the best brake pad and brake disc combo?
I currently have Brembo max discs which have a grooved pattern which helps you know when they need changing and they also have a protective coating. For the pads I have Black diamond which I find are good and low dust. For my new brakes I have Brembo Xtra (as they don't do the size I need for the rear in the Max discs) and Black diamond pads
