voice control not available

Hi,

Just purchased a 66 plate 1.4tdi Match , registered 20/1/17.

Thought all 16 onwards had voice control feature.

When I press voice button on steering wheel, says not available.

Need this to work for iPhone to connect via USB port.

Can anyone help with this?

I don’t think voice control was ever a standard feature on the 6c model Polo. Screen shot below from the May 2017 Polo spec and price list brochure shows it was a £195 option across the entire range, other than the entry level model where voice control was not available.

You mention connecting your phone via the USB port so I’m wondering if you’re confusing VW voice control with using the voice control function on your iPhone via App Connect. App Connect was standard on some models but an extra cost option on others (it wasn’t standard on the March model) - see screen shot above, so the first owner of your car would’ve needed to have either spec’d it when first ordering the car or paid to get it retro-activated - assuming your car’s infotainment unit is App Connect compatible. I no longer own my 2016 Polo but if your car’s infotainment unit is App Connect compatible, I think it’s accessed via your car’s Menu options using the ‘Menu’ button alongside your car’s infotainment screen, is there an App Connect icon? If not, then unfortunately your infotainment unit isn’t App Connect compatible. If there is an App Connect icon, if you press it when you phone’s connected via the USB port, can your phone screen icons be displayed on your infotainment screen or do you see the message in the screen shot below? If the former, then you’re set up to go, but if the latter, then you should be able to get App Connect retro-activated at the VW dealer. The cost used to be around £250 a few years back but is probably higher now.
