256mm rear brake upgrade for a 6C GTI

Post by VwSeatCupra »

Hello guys!

First post here as im struggling to find information on the topic. Ive picked up some 256mm rear brakes but the carriers are off a 4WD car. I know these do not fit now, but at the time i didn't understand the reasons why.
So is it simple enough to purchase 2wd carriers and swap them over?

Or have i wasted my money
Thanks!

I think so, some time ago I made the same mistake and ended up buying new 2WD calipers from Polo WRC. Used they are impossible to find.

If you're interested, I'll be selling my rear 256mm kit since I'm switching to something else.

Yes the 2WD carriers from cupra 1M, TT 8N, Octavia VRS and Golf 4 Jubilee edition will also work.

Yes, Epytec has adapters for that, but that won't work, it doesn't offer the required stiffness.

Yes, I had a set myself and it seems to be a common issue on the German forums.

Do you still have them? If yes can you place them next to the ruler and take a picture from top, and measure the thickness. I'd like to redraw them in CAD to do stress testing.

Or just overall length, hole size, thickness and center to center dimension
