Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Passat B6 Gateway 3C0907530E (PQ46). Firmware update (VAS6154), to 3C0907530Q. Routines.
This is one of the GWs that I used for some tests that I did over the last few years.
Yesterday I decided to update it to the best firmware which fixes the battery drain issue when retrofitting the RNS510 into a Passat B6 (PQ46), as well as other well known issues...
It also improves the GW installation list.
It is necessary to recode it correctly:
- The easiest way is with VCDS and a previous Autoscan/info with the old GW installed.
- To transfer the data from the old GW to the new GW there are two possible methods, by long coding (selecting the equipment Byte by Byte) or by selecting boxes in the GW installation list.
Warning! do not use the method of copying and pasting the long coding, the number of Bytes changes from one firmware to another.
Here is a detailed report (also read comments at the bottom of the page):

For those without VAS or VCP:
This GW it is available for recycling purposes. ♻
Make me a normal offer by PM if you want this GW with the updated firmware, I am sure we will reach a good agreement.

Ready 2 MOT - ITV .
From now on it will be a mandatory annual inspection.
I'll leave the autoscan here in case anyone needs any coding or info.
Notes:
- As your know, the fault at Address 10 is due to a noticeable improvement in performance.
- The multifunction button module (BCM - Subsystem 7, in my case) does not appear because Slavik's CruiseControlEmulator 2021 is installed, which is another performance improvements.
Thanks for reading it.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Successfully passed the MOT.
All OK, in top form with its 125 HP.
Ready2Fly.
Remarkable:
The MOT diagnostic detected that my 6R had a MIL due to a failed spark, but was unable to detect either time or duration, it is not even considered a minor fault.
It was due to some tests I did with different spark plugs when I did the 60,000 km inspection and service...

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Polo 6R. Updating the air conditioner to a higher SW.
Nothing remarkable, everything works the same as before.
It was not even necessary to adapt/basic setting of the flap endstops, etc. , ... which can be done with VCDS or also with the ODIS S guided functions.
VCDS. Before - After.
I've been messing around with the ODIS S and took a screenshot that might be interesting to someone.
Adaptation.
ODIS E (DP). My set values.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Last week my father-in-law died, who was the one who inherited our old Polo 9N3 in impeccable condition with 105,000 km.
After 15,000 km the abuse and carelessness suffered by the 9N3 has been considerable, and now I have to be the one to return it to a decent and safe state for driving.
During these 15,000 km my father-in-law had an accident, he went off the road in the only curve between two long straight lines... (there were no personal damages), something very inexplicable, he never wanted to tell what really happened in that curve.
The car was taken to a workshop to repair the damage sustained, especially to the undercarriage of the car.
'Now', I have had to correct practically all the work did in that 'workshop'.
An example:
Polo 9N3 1.2 BBM Poly V belt squeaks and incorrectly installed. Fixed!
WTH...
Fixed : https://www.youtube.com/embed/6VSvPzTFk ... autoplay=1
VCDS Autoscan
After intense work on the Polo 9N3, all that remains is to replace the "green" engine coolant that was filled in that 'workshop' with an original VW pink one,... and install new front brake discs and pads -expecting to receive the parts this week-.
It will be good training for the work I have to do on our Polo 6R and Golf 7.5.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
... more images about the Polo 9N3. (jobs to be done)
I am assuming this zip clamp was installed because the poly v-belt was installed incorrectly...
---
I also assume the A/C compressor was changed, but the 'workshop' used one from a junkyard that is supposedly compatible...
---
I will make a Christmas gift to the one who is able to tell me the color of this engine coolant.
I'll have to find out why the workshop changed the engine coolant.
---
Hmm... better not say anything. Waiting for the two anti-roll bar links.
---
A puncture with slow loss of air in the right rear tire that the workshop was not able to detect (thin iron wire). Already fixed (30 minutes).
My father in law was for a long time inflating the tires weekly...
... and some other small deficiencies that I will be posting as I solve them.
I asked my wife's family for the repair invoice from that workshop, but no one knows anything about it, they even lost the owner's manual.
Everything surrounding this incident/accident that happened a year and a half ago has an aura of mystery as if it were a horror movie.
I like it...

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Polo 6R. New Tires and Tire Pressure Sensors.
After 10 and a half years and 70700 kms on the original factory tires, it's time to change them.
Although they still have 3mm of depth to go, the rubber is rock hard and they have started to have microcracks. They're fun for twisty speed tracks , but not so much for everyday use.
At this moment, with a flashlight, gloves, a crowbar, and a magnifying glass, I inspect the entire undercarriage, ball joints, rubber bushings, shock absorbers, control arms, wheel bearings, brakes, etc...
I see that the rubber bushings (vertical bolt) of both control arms have superficial microcracks but that the rubbers are in good condition after the appropriate checks, with no gaps between the parts.
I estimate that they will last in good condition for another 50,000 km.
From Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 87V to BFGoodrich Advantage 87W.
From.
Good tires in all respects. I recommend them.
DOT: 1812.
To.
DOT: 0622.
Logical improvement in grip, although waiting to do 1000 to 2000 km to do some good tests.
---
New Tire Pressure Monitoring sensors/valves.
From.
Once removed, I cleaned and inspected them and they are still in good shape. They worked perfectly.
To.
The same parameterization as before, for the 6R I did not generate new parameters.
The new sensors were detected by the J502 unit for the first time after 300 meters traveled, the following times, after 25 meters traveled.

Happy Holidays to everyone without exception!
Waiting for the weather conditions to improve a bit to continue with the little jobs on the Polo 9N3.

Happy Holidays to everyone without exception!
Waiting for the weather conditions to improve a bit to continue with the little jobs on the Polo 9N3.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
... continuing with the little jobs on the Polo 9N3.
Windscreen washer fluid barely reaches the spray jets. Broken corrugated pipe. Solved!
Assumptions:
'Someone' had the brilliant idea to fill the windscreen washer fluid reservoir with 'water'. Winter temperatures froze the water and the corrugated pipe for the windscreen washer system broke at the weakest place.
... but his brilliance did not end there, an attempt was made to repair the broken corrugated pipe with 'duct tape'.
When I received the 9N3 for me to repair, a coke bottle filled with water, and the duct tape were in the Polo 9N3 trunk/boot.
Repair (erWin mode ). Original Video : https://www.youtube.com/embed/MBjKzdVda ... autoplay=1

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
Polo 9N3. Engine coolant change. From green-brown to VW pink G12evo.
erWin; Polo 9N3 and 6R.
Engine coolant. Draining and filling.
WARNING
Steam may escape when expansion tank is opened. Wear eye
protection and protective clothing to avoid eye injuries and
scalding. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully.
1 Draining.
– Open filler cap on coolant expansion tank.
– Remove engine splash protection (lower noise insulation).
– Release hose clip and pull coolant hose off, or open quick action coupling (drain tap/cock).
2 Filling.
– Fill with coolant up to max. mark on expansion tank.
– Fit expansion tank cap.
– Turn off heater controls.
– Start engine and maintain an engine speed of about 2,000 rpm for about 3 minutes.
– Run engine until radiator fan cuts in.
– Check coolant level and top-up if necessary.
When the engine is at normal operating temperature, the coolant level must be at the max. mark.
when the engine is cold, between the min and max. marks.

Let science work for you:
- Communicating vessels.
You just have to lower the return pipe to a level below the coolant level in the expansion tank, you don't need to blow through the intake of return pipe for an 'alleged' bleeding of engine coolant. At all times, you must keep the coolant level above the minimum level in the expansion tank, both with the engine ON and afterwards.
To.
While I was going to the clean point for the recycling of the old engine coolant, I stopped halfway to refill the coolant tank slightly.
Tomorrow, when the engine is cold, I'll check the level again.
I bought a new tank and drain valve, but it was not necessary to use them. In a 14 year old vehicle anything can happen.

After extensive research the owner's manual finally surfaced.
Also the invoice of the repair carried out in the workshop.

Polo 9N3. Front anti roll bar links replacement.
Easy and simple, without mysteries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Poe9PpzmaFU

Reinforced. Better than OE.✌
The 9kg 2T jack is perfect for transporting it anywhere, the 30kg 3T jack is better only for the garage.
---
I check the front brake discs (Ø 256mm) and pads, the brake discs are 20.4mm thick (New = 22mm, wear limit = 19mm) and the brake pads are 7mm thick (New = 14mm, wear limit without backplate = 2mm)... a little more than half use.
The brake pads do not seem to be 'crystallized' (hardened), and the brake system works correctly after 122,000 km of use (no noises, good braking), so I decided not to change the brake discs and pads in this moment. I will check them again at the next service (150,000km), maybe my brother-in-law will be the one to do it , since the Polo 9N3 will be inherited by the wife's sister.
The DOT4 brake fluid was recently changed, the level of the brake fluid reservoir is in the MAX mark.
---
To finish the repairs (little jobs) on the Polo 9N3, I just need to repair the wiring for the AC N280 regulating valve and install a new engine splash protection (lower noise insulation), which was non-existent when I received the car.
Ordered in Autodoc, waiting for it to arrive.
I prefer not to comment on the invoice for the repair carried out in the workshop, currently I no longer comment on dramas of any kind...
Polo 9N3 Remembering some retrofits I did time ago. Cruise control. Front Footwell lights. 6R SW.

Next year I will start with the pending improvements in the Golf 7.5 (DCC).

P0L0 6R. 2o22 Top Sport MFSW (easy buttons).
'Plug and play'.
- It is necessary to have the Cruise Control Emulator 2021 installed and code the BCM for the Horn (explained in previous posts of this thread).

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
After 2000 kms, today I did a test drive to check the grip of the new BF-Goodrich Advantage tires in semi-wet weather conditions and temperatures of approx. 15ºC.
Conclusion: A very correct grip, transmitting a very pleasant sensation of security even in tight corners 'at limit speeds'... you know (without the need to countersteer).
It is a real pleasure to drive this 6R.

Polo 9N3. Driver side mirror replacement.
The sticker between the mirror and the plastic support has lost its effectiveness and the mirror had a tendency to sway at every acceleration, it was even fun to look in the mirror and see the sky ... , also danced vibrationally with the bumps or with the music ...
During the exchange of the mirror for a new one I had to remove a 'security system' that was built into the interior where the mirror is attached. This security system is worth studying for those who are into entomology, since the car has moved daily...
