Wits end on my Polo

Post by oph »

Ok, this little piece of crap has given me nothing but hassle.

I have had an ongoing problem with a vacuum leak which i believed Id cured. It was the usual limp mode, EML and EPC light. Was told it needed a new lambda sensor on the exaust out. Right, seemed to now be ok. Its sorn currently but only because I want to MOT and flog it. I took it for a test drive and got to 8 miles driving round quiet roads and then the same fault kicked in, with limp mode before I pulled over, and reset the codes. Yesturday, I had a TOPDON 600 arrive and it said that the ECU is the issues ( something confirmed by a third party ).

Read ECU Memory
Diagnostic system : 01 Engine Electronics
VW/Audi Part number : 3036997034BD
System Description : MARELLI 4MV 7747
ECU Coding : 00071
Serve Station Code:00607

Ok, so is it even worth trying to get this sorted on a 54 plate polo, purchased for 180 pounds during the first lockdown? Or should I now just bin it?

Cheers fellas
