I know they need to be coded, I have recently been quoted £40 for a spare key as I currently only have one.
Are 6n2's prone to immobiliser faults? As from what I've seen there seems to be a lot of threads on other forums about polos like 9n's being immobilised completely all down to the immobiliser going faulty?

9ns had a different immobiliser setup where it's integrated into the clocks

6n2s don't suffer the same issues as its a seperate immo unit.

£40 seems cheap for a spare - it's important it's not just a clone of your existing key and is an additional key coded into the system else you can just be cloning the issue as there's a chance the rfid chip won't be read properly

I think it's going to have to go to volkswagen and see what they think. Just tried to start it and there's nothing, stinks of fuel and seems to try and start when you back off the starting part of the ignition, just doesn't make sense how it will start perfectly one time but next time will run the battery flat trying to start it.

I know what the problem is it is the ignition switch i know because i have the exact same problem on my 6n2 Gti
What im going to do is unplug it put a new one on
Leave the old in until i get a puller to replace it properly and just put the key in as normal it was making the lights on the dash dim as well as i moved key slightly it lit up brighter these all go sooner or later wear and tear

Try your spare key.
Does that give the same errors?
