Drivers Window and issues

Post by Ritchievalens »

Hi there

The Vw Polo 1.2 S - 9N I purchased has had a few problems already, that have been sorted

1. Misfiring - Coil pack fixed it
2. Wouldn't go into gear - Clutch Slave master cylinder

I have had an intermittent drivers window problem

Symptoms

If I pull the drivers window switch towards me, the window comes down fully in 1 go.
To roll the window back up, I have to keep pressing the windows switch.

Also.. The Door light at the bottom doesn't come on.

Is there any relation?

I am going to buy a Haynes manual, but managed to download one already in pdf format

Thanks

Window is probably learning.
When closed hold down the open button (driver side buttons) for 10 seconds
Then hold button up to close window en hold 10 seconds after closing.
Do this for both windows if the problem is at both sides.

The doorlight could be an issue in the doorlock.
When opening the far side door, does the light go on on both doors?
If so, the microswitch in de near side door is defective.
Replacing the doorlockmodule is about a 1 hour job, incl removing doorcard.

Bought mine for my old 9N3 via AliEpress.
There are differences in modules, so read out in the scan with doorcontroller you have.

Hi Maarten

I appreciate your response

I will try the Learning procedure.
Are you Local, as I would gladly give you the business to help sort out my Door light etc?

Thanks

I am not local, I'm in the Netherlands.
If I was, it would be no problem to help you. :)

Hi Maarten - I tried the 10 second switch thing, and it didnt seem to work
Unless I did something wrong

I am looking to buy an ODB reader in the next few days.
In your opinion what would you suggest under £50.00 or should I go closer to £100.00?

When buying a clone cable you probably spend 25 to 35 pounds depending on where you buy it.
Original is closer to 500.
I hear good things about OBD11 that is around 70€ here.

The window trick should work with factory power windows.
It only works from the drivers side, passenger side doorbutton in the 9N/9N3 you have to open or close whilst holding the button up or down. Never knew why, probably something to do with the windowmodule in the driversdoor

Maarten Thankyou

What company makes the ODB11, is it on Amazon?

I went over a bump last night, and the car seemed to run rough for a bit, so I was wondering what could cause that?
Thats why I want to buy a scanner

Thanks
