T-Roc 2022, 1.5 150HP, Style, LHD, retrofiting

Post by spajk »

Hello,

this is my first post here. I found this forum on Google while looking for some components location in my T-Roc. I found a post by @ciclo - amazing work.
I am planning to retrofit:
OEM wireless phone charger
OEM blind spot sensors
OEM LED tail lights with dynamic blinkers (currently I have stock LED tail lights.

I am starting with the wireless charger. I bought a kit from a German website. They send it with a OBD coding dongle and wires. Unfortunately there is no manual for this retrofit. The location of the charging module is self-explanatory. The outdoor antenna should go on the back bumper and there should already be a mount preinstalled. I am not sure about the signal booster. If I understood @ciclo post correctly, the booster goes somewhere near the taillights.
The N5 and N11 wires go to the grey connector on MIB3 unit. And the SCC 16 goes to fuse 16 in the Fusebox C, at the drivers side (left hand drive car). I am not sure how to do this. Do I take out the whole fusebox, is there a free connector or something on the backside of fuse 16? Or do I need to use "fuse taps" or do I need to make an additional fusebox? I have checked the fuse diagram for the T-Roc, and yes Fuse 16 is for the USB-C slots and the wireless chargers.
But I want to know and prepare everything before I take the car apart.

Hello spajk

I recommend you to make additional fuse box, as you intend to do more retrofits in future. Read following posts by Master Ciclo, easy to understand and make your own additional fuse box(OEM way)

Here are few pictures and wiring diagrams that might help you for your current installation.

Thank you for your reply. I have managed to find the location of all parts. I want to make the additional fuse box before I start. But my fuse box is on the drivers side. And the spare fuse looks different then the one in Ciclo's post.
On google I found this two version: 5Q0941824 and 6R0937530
But I am not sure if either of them is the part I am looking for. One has only 2 fuses, and the second one, I am not sure if there are any fuses or if it is just some type of a connector.
Photos of my fuse box on the drivers side (left hand drive) and 2 options I found on ebay bellow:

You need Fuse holder (2 fuses) 6R0937530 and/or (4 fuses) 6R0937530A. The price of both is same. 5Q0941824 is not compatible.

I can see a 2 fuse holder slot in front in your fuse carrier, you can use it.

Also there will be more fuse holders in your PDC module bracket attached to fuse carrier. For more details read here viewtopic.php?p=579233#p579233

Finally got some time to do some work.
I have installed additional fuses as per Ciclo's post.
Installed the charger, amplifier and antenna. And connected all wires. I bought a ready made kit from K-----c. The wires with the special plastic connectors could have been 10cm longer, wouldn't hurt them
Interesting thing was, when I removed the bumper. There was already an antenna installed, same like in the kit. Didn't follow the wires so I don't know where it is connected. Could be for the built in eSim and internet services?? Any way, this was on the right side, so I installed the antenna from the kit on the left side
Although there was already an antenna installed, there was no amplifier. And on the location of the amplifiers, there were to holes, but no screws or nuts, so I had to get creative :D
After I finished everything, I connected the battery back. And it was like Ciclo said, Christmas three dashboard. But after a few 100 meters most errors corrected, the 2 remaining I have cleared with OBD11.
After that I have inserted the coding dongle that was in the kit. The LED lights on the dongle indicated a successful coding. Car off/on and charging was working!!
But there was no icon or text indication on the Car screen like in Ciclo's post and K-----c website. So I tried OBD11 and VCDS with Hex-V2.
Tried the coding from Ciclo: module 5F, Byte 15, Bit 0 ON, Bit 1 ON and Bit 5 ON. But still no luck. There charger is charging but there is no indication in the car...
Maybe the long coding is different on MIB3?

I have broken this small plastics piece that hides the screw of this holder in the luggage compartment. Is it possible to buy just this plastic piece?

After finishing I have found this part. Don't know where is it from? Maybe some part from the rear bench?

The log from OBD11: I can also post the log from VCDS if it makes more sense?

VIN: WVGZZZA1ZNV______
Car: Volkswagen T-Roc
Year: 2022
Body type: SUV
Engine: DPCA
Mileage: 12865 KM
Usually I always get 2 errors, BB Rear Left Door and Right door not found... Don't know why is that? How do I check if the software versions of installed modules are up to date? Does it make sense to update them? I don't have ODIS..

I see that there are also some options under adaptations regarding Wireless charging in VCDS under 5F module. Should I try it? What could be the reason that the charging is working but it is not shown on the car infotainment screen?

Hmm couldn't upload the post with the auto scan?? I get the message from the forum: Forbiden. Post seems to be spam!

EDIT:
I just realized the wiring in the kit from Kufatec has no wire that goes to BCM. Is it possible that it is not needed? What does it do? If I have to add the wire, I have to buy some pins to insert into the black connector on the charger and a pin that goes into the BCM connector? Where is it located?

After more testing. I realized that the charger is not working correctly. When I put the phone on it. The phone screen show that it is charging. Also on the car infotainment screen when I am in the APP menu (android auto), the battery icon gets the lightning symbol, meaning it is charging. But it stops after 1-2 seconds. Then after some time it starts again, but only for 1-2 seconds. And this goes on and on... Like it sends only a small impulse and stops...
I compared it to charging via USB cable... The battery icon with the lightning indicator is present always. It doesn't disappear.

Maybe the issue wasn't coding after all. maybe it is the missing wire?

I think that the connection and disconnection problem you are experiencing may be due to having metal objects in the wireless charging compartment, or you have a magnet-sticker for external supports attached to your smartphone.

The wireless charging message is a temporary message of approximately 3-5 seconds on the screen on my DM MIB2.5 just when the wireless charging is established (as shown in my thread), the message disappears and the smartphone continues and shows the charging on the Smartphone's own screen. For DM (MIB2.5) no icon is shown permanently on the screen of the main unit indicating the pairing, this only happens for the DPro.

hmmm yes. I am aware of that. My phone is a bit bulky because it has a camera module that is standing out a few millimeters. I have tried with the phone case removed, and without the rubber mat in the compartment. I always get the same issue, it starts charging for 1 second and then stops, and then after a few seconds it starts again... When I have time I will add the missing wire and also check all the wires again. But I think it will be after the summer.
