Passanger side window won’t auto down with one touch.

Post by ad_182_uk »

2019 gti+

Passanger side front window will not one touch down with drivers side control.

However it will one touch down with passanger control.

All other windows operate as expected.

I have attempted ‘reset’ on both passanger and drivers side controls.

Drivers side passanger window control still refuses to one touch down, but will one touch up.

All windows work with fob for opening and closing with no issues.

Guessing its going to need a new drivers side front passanger window control switch?

I think the problem is at the main driver's switch.
You said that the function is working with the passenger's switch.

Anyone know if this is the right part number

5G0959857 G

There is a physical difference on the suspect switch, looks like need a whole new unit though.

Or do the amazon copies work fine?

Anyone know if I can just replace a switch from the rear of the car into the front unit?

Turns out its a whole unit. Took it apart to look, dodgy switch actually has the tiniest bit of plastic missing somehow from the housing thus meaning i cant engage the 2nd stage of the switch click. But everything else works fine.

Tried a DIY fix will see how it goes.

I have exactly the same problem with the driver side window switch. It started when i picked the car up from it's last service. I assumed the vw trained technician must have been a bit heavy handed with it. I didnt bother complaining as i guessed they would never accept responsibility and just imply i was trying it on.
I would be interested to know if your fix works and what you did.

6 tabs hold the unit to the electric board. One had broke the plastic bit surrounding it so it had nothing to resist again when pressed, hence never managed to press far enough for one touch.

Glued some plastic on to mimic what was there before. Seems fine now.

Have ordered a £12 replacement from China that illuminates red (thats the G part of the part number i think) without the G it’ll be white or something.

So can always change the whole thing if it does not hold.

Great to see your post and the efforts you went to resolve it.. Thanks

I'll certainly remember this for future reference: I'm amazed (rather I'm being naïve) at the cost cutting on VWs now.

However there are certain things that have reputations.. like the rear electric solenoid door locks on my old Polo (9N3). I bought two copies from Poland (nearly wrote Pololand) and my local garage (independent) fitted them both and you could not tell the door cards had even come off!.

The total including the parts, postage and fitting for less that the cost of one OEM part only from VW parts dept.
