Overboosting

Post by PatrickPT89 »

Good morning to all of you.

My name is Patrick, I live in Portugal, and I'm the proud owner of a 1.4TDI. The car used to belong to my sis, but now is in my possession.
Have been DIYing, already fixed some stuff around the car, but I'm having trouble with overboosting.

I've checked with my VCDS and I've got 2 errors:

17965 - Charge Pressure Control
P1557 - 35-10 - Positive Deviation - Intermittent

17552 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
P1144 - 35-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent

Also did a road test with VCDS connected to see where were the values on the boos presure (specified and actual):

Actual was sutcked at 2400mbar
Specified flactuaded depend on turbo output but max value was 2014mbar

Follow all tuturial on the internet, checked for leaks, all vaccum lines are good, took out the turbo itsell and inspected on the bench. Nothing wrong with it, no leaks, no carbon deposit, wastegate flap working without problems, but I do have a vaccum/pressure test kit and I did indeed tried on the wastegate to see what number I got.

I need to know what are the stock numbers for this wastegate to open and fully open.

First test wastegate only started opening at 1bar and fully open at 2.4bar.
After some tuning, second test started opening at 0.7bar and fully open at 2bar.

I think this is too much, and I suspect that I have a faulty wastegate, but before I buy a new one, I need to know ther values.

Thanks in advance, good day to all.

Patrick
