What does Engine Must Run mean?

Hi All.

I've got a 2010 - 1.2tdi Polo that is displaying 'Engine Must Run'.
Does anyone know what this means?

The DPF light is also on and I've been trying to get it to regen by driving for 20 minutes at high revs. as recommended by many. Still no joy.

I'd just be guessing, but maybe it is still trying to sort out a blocking/full DPF, maybe it now needs professional intervention to sort this out.

just drive in fifth gear 110-120 km/h it will regenerate no need for high revs. Take it for a long journey.

Drive at least 60Km/hr @ engine speed between 1800-2500rpm, at least 15 minutes until light goes out. (Automatic; Select Sport)
