Vehicle: 1.2 12v 06 plate
The previous owner never got the two key door locks serviced and the barrels are stuck off centre and unusable.
Would this stop the barrel from being able to be removed normally from removing retaining bolt?
If so what are my options?
Drill the barrel or remove door panel and try to free from the other side or some combination of both. Or something I am missing?
Any help appreciated.
Door lock barrels stuck on removal. Anyone had a similar issue.

You have to loosen the screw that holds the barrel in place. (above the doorlock screws same height as the lock)
DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW COMPLETELY!!!
Just use half turns whilst trying to move the barrel towards yourself
No need to remove the doorpanel

I have loosened the screw (all the way out) but the barrel will not budge hence post.
Any other suggestions?

Screw should have stayed in.
With the key in the barrel you can pull the barrel towards yourself.
You may have to wiggle a bit
There are numeroes YT video's on the subject.
Look for the golf 4 vids, these are essential the same locks

Key won't go in barrel as the barrel is seized off centre. Or maybe key snapped inside....Will check that later...
Does removing retaining bolt completely stop barrel mechanism from coming out?
Or is it that barrel is seized off centre and that is trapping the barrel mechanism from being removed?

No the screw is for retaining the barrel.
You could try to take the doorcard off and the inner panel.
Then try to push the barrel out from the inside.
Or try to remove the cover surrounding the barrel and use a plier to grab and pull the barrel.

Re: Door lock barrels stuck on removal. Anyone had a similar issue.
Thanks everyone for top info.
In the end I had to use loads of lubricant around the barrel mechanism through the retaining bolt hole.
I used a screwdriver in lock and forced and barrel mechanism and it came out in end.

The key will not fully engage and the barrel looks toasted. Aiming to investigate but likely need to mechanism and barrel.
Thanks again for help.

Glad you got it out.
Try to put the screw back for the new barrel.
