2019 VW Polo GTI - Washer Pump Not Working, F58 Fuse Issue

Post by Cosmin »

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my 2019 VW Polo GTI AW.
The washer pump has stopped working, though both front and rear wipers are functioning fine.

I've checked the fuses and diagrams, which indicate F58 should be the relevant fuse. However, there's no fuse in that slot, and there doesn't seem to be an electrical connection there to hold a fuse in place.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem or have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I'm stumped and would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

did you consider the pump or the wiper stalk not working?

the wiper stalk is definitely working cause the wipers are moving after a few seconds, it's just that no water is coming off. It's either the fuse or the pump and I was trying to understand which fuse is related to the washer pump.

Hi,

Anyone have any update/resolution on this issue, my washers have stoped working and I have the same problem with the missing fuse.

Silence when washers acivated, no whirring from pump. Pretty sure it's a blown fuse but fuse isn't in the position it's meant to be!

well ... then you can take out every fuse and check it out in front of the light or by continuity tester. Honestly it is not a rocket science and I would rather spend 30 minutes pulling fuses then month without working washer pump ...

The fuses don't require pulling, they can be tested in place with a multimeter or the like?.

Its exactly 7.5 A and its missing from your picture, did you put there 7.5A fuse?
I changed mine few weeks ago. Wipers will always move when you try to wash windshield, but if you cant hear the pump while outside, its either fuse or the pump.

I hate it when people raise issues and never come back with any sort of resolution so here's mine, hope it's of some help to someone in future...

I eventually took it to a garage and they confirmed the relevant fuse was SC43 but mine was ok (that was one that I'd checked anyway). My problem was simply (but expensively) that that the pump motor had blown, replaced and all working now.

However, based on the way that mine was put together, I wouldn't want to guarantee that the above will be relevant to anyone else.

Exact same car. Exact same problem. Has anyone figured out what fuse to check? Or should I give up and wait for the next service...

Hello ,
Im having a bit of trouble with my headlight washer jets not activating when i do the stalk , but it activates when i do the activation with the vcds !? Its odd ,
I hit a fox on the m26 & it damaged the ns lower part of the bumper so decided to get a new bumper which came with fog lights trims & headlight washer brackets , the HD brackets needed adhesiving on which i did & i installed the washer jet units which were working on the damaged bumper as i double checked beforehand , anyway connected everything up installed the bumper got in the car turned ignition on put headlights on pulled the washer stalk & only the windcreen wipers & wash happened , normally the headlight washers activate twice but never came on , the tank was full aswell ,
Im stumped , i googled for possible reasons why its like this even googled would it code itself out for removing them from the car but it stated that it wouldnt , so ruled that out , so i tried the vcds to change the value & it still didnt work from the stalk but it activated when i done a test theough output test .
Anyone got any knowledge pointers to solve this would be great .
Thanks

If your car’s a 1.8 GTI as per your signature details then it’s a 6C Polo GTI so you’d be better posting on the 6R / 6C (mk8 / mk9) forum board. The forum board you have posted on is for the current shape Polo and none of the current shape Polos (pre- or post-facelift) have headlamp washers.
