Is Polo Beats/Seat Sound/Golf Dyn Audio worth bothering with?

Post by Aquavalver »

Hi! So I have bought a new daily which is a 2016 Seat Ibiza FR ECO TSI 1.4 ACT which is the 150bhp version of the 140bhp engine that's in my Polo 6R Blue GT. I will be keeping my Polo for shows, meets and the odd drive and even though the Ibiza is my daily, I will still be lightly modding/upgrading it over time.

Anyway, as it's my daily and the Polo is my show & meet car, I will not be spending as much on mods/upgrades, so trying to keep it to more of a budget. I'm also trying to keep it all hidden/look OEM, as I don't really want a big sub box sitting in the boot or even an amp there. Now with the audio, it has an OEM Apple car play stereo, so that's fine, but I'd like to upgrade/add the speakers/amp/sub. I know there's the Polo Beats system, with has a sub that fits on top of the spare wheel and has an amp that sits on a bracket under the passenger seat, then has a cover over that. I'm not 100% sure if the speakers in the system are different to what I have though. A search on Google seems to say they are different from stock speakers, but it's not so obvious when searching by part numbers. Now Seat basically do the same system but for the Ibiza, but it's a lot rarer than the Polo Beats, as they didn't do a model like the Beats. The Mk7 Golf has basically the same thing, but they call it Dyn Audio. Not sure if the speakers are different, but possibly the brackets/surround is.

So I'm wondering if anyone has had any of these systems in their cars or has experience of them? I have heard some people say that they have to turn the bass down a lot because of rattles etc, so some sound deadening would help there. I could just upgrade the speakers to good quality aftermarket ones and get the VW/Seat amp & sub, or is it just better to not bother with it and get an amplified sub above the spare wheel or sub there and amp hidden, or under seat small amp/subs?

Thanks for any help.
