G40 ECU Chip

Post by Petrified »

Hi!

I want to find out if my G40 has a standard chip. When I open up the ECU anyone know what I'm looking for on the chip itself?

or any pics??

I'm pretty sure an aftermarket chip will have the companies logo on it. Or if it's a copied chip then probably a sticker with some hand-written writing on.

I can take a photo of my standard chip tonight if I remember, if thats any good? Providing I can find it of course!

Send me an email to remind me if you want: [email protected]

Yea the original chip in my 1ltr had siemans on it in green writing so an aftermarket one as hayesey said will either have the company logo on it or some sort of sticker denoting what it is.

Thanks guys,

The chip , now i've seen it has a silver sticker with what looks like a part number on it.
1 267 356 643
something like that, wish I took a picture myself now but it would show up too dark.

It doesn't look aftermarket.

the silver sticker is to protect the chip itself from light exposure which can wipe them clean or corrupt the contents

I'd say with a sticker like that it's std - but it's quite easy to delete and reprogramme a std chip with some new contents so that any insurance company wouldn't sniff too hard around it

That's cool,
I just wanted to find out if it's chipped or not, because if it isn't it soon will be

The person I bought it off seemed to think it wasn't.
