Presure Sensor

Post by sorted »

51 plate 6n2 Polo (1.4 16v)

Recently the EPC and emissions light has been illuminating frequently.

I have used VAG-COM to retreive the error code from the ECU and it returned the following error:

Manifold Inlet Pressure sensor - inplausable signal

Does anyone know where is this sensor? What is likely to be wrong with it? Does anyone know any sites where such error codes are explained in detail?

I've had hassle with this before and it realated to the brake light switch, but that has now been replaced a few month ago and this is a recouring problem !!

I found the fault for this , incase anyone ever comes accross it !!

The map sensor is bolted to the back of the inlet manifold virtually upside down and the iny air passage-way through to the sensor element fills up with oildeposits / sludge and general sh1te. Long term solution is change oil morerequently!

Remove sensor, blast some carb cleaner ***across*** the hole, shake it abit,
tip it out, repeat until solvent runs clear.

DO NOT blast solvent into sensor- they are very delicate and built to
measure vacuum not pressure and dont take a metal object or an airline to
it.

Re-install making sure gasket is good.
