can this be taken off and painted? if so how does it come off?

I think that in order to take it off you need to take of the roof lining... I thin the best way is to protect well the near area and spray it right on the spot.

yep you definitely need to remove the roof lining for a Bee Sting as I have recently fitted one to my polo. If you really feel the need to remove it, you will find one very large nut which anchors the aerial to the car through a square hole. You will also need to diconnect the aerial lead and power lead to fully remove the base from the car. To be honest with you, as long as you mask the surrounding area sufficiently you shouldn't go far wrong. Oh yeah, remember that the base is plastic coated, so you will have to use the right primer first.
