alritey, welcome to the forum!

for £700 im sure u can get a GTI engine (1.6 16v from the mk5 gti) .
R4B VW on this forum has it on his blue mk4, seen it a few times and its bloodi fast!! 8) but fitting will cost, but if u can fit it yourself, as Rab did then itll be within your budget.

otherwise, just get some decent decent wheels and suspension so it handles good, rather than lots of power and handles like a ship!

hope this helps
enjoy :)

Cheers, i've had the car about a year now and i've lowered it 50mm on spax springs, got white multi spoke 15"s and a cat back scorpion exhaust, i've done loads of other little bits and quite a lot to the interior, just wanted to start making it a bit faster. any one know if a golf engine would fit?

CymruPolo had some nice white rims which he was changing from... ask him whether he still has them and how much he's selling them for.

cheers, i'll try and put up some pics after work, i've been told that a mk2 1.6 golf engine should fit straight in and the same with the mk3 1.6, but it was one of my mates that told me and i wonderded if any you guys had done something similar?
