Blue Temp sender

Post by metz »

I changed the thermostat housing yesterday as it had a leak, i changed all the seals and the thermostat too but didn't change the senders as they were working fine..the car idles at just below the 1000 mark fine and when you unplug the blue temp sender the idle rises to 1000rpm....its hardly noticible though..does this mean the sender is now broken because of my meddling?

Don' think its broken because of what you've done.

Its as good opportunity as ever to replace it. You know the woes the blue temp sender can bring with it!

Karl.

if you've got a GT engine, it could be that you're putting it into service mode, in which case the ecu reduces the ignition advance and causes the engine to rev a bit faster. thats what happens when the engine is warm anyway. and when you plug it back in it returns to normal

stop me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't it be idling somewhere a little below 1000 anyway? and the i'd put money on the revcounter not being all too accurate at the extreme ends of the scale..

yea it idles about 900rpm but when i unplug the blue temp sender when the engine is warm the idle only goes upto 1k (people said 1300rpm)

when i plug it back in it doesn't drop straight away but takes about 5 seconds to gradually go back down...is this right?

just since i messed around with it the blue sensor wobbles about a bit in its slot..no leaks though. (those clips were a right pain to get back in and i think the hammer may have something to do with my problems)
