replaced the windshield wiper cap with the smarter Skoda "000 096 706" (3€) cap with built in funnel,
and superquick carwash (pre wash foam and high pressure).

I changed the lcd dash and tire pressure monitoring for my polo

Adjusted the headlamp dipped beam range on my GTI+ LED headlamps using the process outlined by @roywolfey in the thread at the link below;

Like some Polo owners with LED headlamps, I’ve always felt the dipped beam range was a little poor; some might say the beam throw was short enough to be potentially dangerous when travelling at anything like the legal speed limit on unlit roads. Poor headlamp range as set by the factory seems to be a common issue on the mk7.5 Golf GTI too (also has LED headlamps), and I’m aware owners on Golf forums have also adjusted their headlamp beam height.

I lined my car up against the garage wall and gave the recessed plastic height adjustment screw one full anti-clockwise turn and there was a noticeable uplift in the beam height. I’ve just been out for a test run to a) judge the extent of the beam range improvement and b) make sure the beam height’s not too high to dazzle oncoming traffic.

IMHO they’re now at the right height and no headlamp flashing from oncoming drivers so they’re not set too high to dazzle.

Interestingly, I see my previous Polo GTI (the previous generation model) that had LED headlamps (headlamps never adjusted from the original factory setting during my ownership) failed it’s MOT in 2021 - the reason? Headlamp aim was too low. - see below;

Popped a new pollen filter in.

Gave the car a clean today, first one for a while! Unfortunately noticed some white worm on two of the alloys. Well, I think the second picture is white worn. Assuming nothing can really be done about this?

Yes, unfortunately it does look like white worm. The only thing that can really be done is to get them refurbished, and then it’s only buying time in most cases, as it only takes one small stone chip to the diamond cut face which, if left unattended, white worm is likely to set in again. Also bear in mind that diamond cut alloys can usually only be refurbished a maximum of two times - more than twice and the structural integrity of the wheel can be compromised as too much alloy may be removed when the face is re-cut.

IMHO the (poor) durability of diamond cut alloys means they’re not really suitable to be on a car all year round when that car’s used as a daily driver on the UK’s roads. I really do wish car manufacturers would get over their obsession with fitting these ‘bling-bling’ alloys on their cars, but that’s probably not going to happen.

Is one of the wheels in the pictures the one your had refurbished a while back? The reason I ask is on the wheel in the second picture, if you zoom in close on the diamond cut surface, it’s possible to see distinct grooves on the diamond cut face from the CNC lathe cutting process and those grooves aren’t present on the wheel in the first picture, which suggests one is the factory finish and the other (second picture?) a refurbished wheel. There’s also what looks like a small area of damage right on the edge of the rim near the area of white worm in the second picture - possibly caused by an over zealous tyre fitter?

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - I really dislike diamond cut alloys with a passion! They’re more hassle than they’re worth in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately yes, the front left alloy has been previously refurbished. I noticed the other mark as you mentioned, and yes that looks like potential damage when I've had the MPS4 tyre's fitted. Nothing I can do about it now which is a shame, my trye fitting place are generally very good. I'm always paranoid when changing the tyres as these types of things can happen.

I think I'll keep an eye on them over the months, if they get worse I'll either buy replacement ones or switch to a new/different set of Alloy wheels. I've always wanted the Borbet Y wheels so maybe this will push me into them!

No problem. That’s what forums are for; advice, sharing knowledge, friendly banter and sharing views / opinions .

Barbet Y alloys are nice - quite similar to BBS SR which I almost bought for my car (in Himalaya Grey; not the black / diamond cut version!). It’s a shame VW didn’t offer a similar style (non diamond cut) alloy as an option on the GTI / GTI+; if they had, it would have been my choice when I ordered my car.

Replaced the boot light with an LED unit. Awaiting LED fogs, reverse lights and rear indicators and then it will be fully LED.

Can you get a foot rest / dead pedal cover to match the brake and accelarator pedals?

The car has a milltek exhuast but the tips at the rear dont seem quite parallel to the bumper recess, although looking at stock gti’s they are the same - is this normal?

Also took it out for some lawnmowing;

Added front and rear badge overlays as the big chrome VW’s didn’t really match the rest of the car imo.

Cheap and easy!

Fitted LED rear signals, reverse and front cornering/fogs. All from EM tuning.
Reverse lights are giving me an error so have contacted EM to see if they have an alternate.

Hopefully the other ones stay error free.

Pic below showing halogen vs led - poor pic tbh.

Altered the OEM aerial by unscrewing the sticky up rubber part (that catches the tailgate when opened). Replaced with a shark fin overlay that uses a small attachement method to maintain the radio signal. Secures down with 3m double sided tape so totally reversible should you require.

Tbh looks like it should of from factory.
