Please dont get 6x9's they ruin your sound stage and sound crap. PLus if you get an subwoofer as well, the sub will push the cones and ruin them. Get some good components and a decent sub.

This is well renound for being the best SQ setup there is. You shouldnt need rear fill in a little polo with 6.5inch components. Ok so peeps in the back might moan, but you dont sit in the back do you?

if you got a high end alpine HU (approx £200 - £300, 9812/9813 or better) you can adjust all these things, such as:

time correction - you can set each speaker to sound at slightly different times so it sounds like you're in the middle of the car

Cant remember the technical term, but it allows you to move the frequency of each output, so you could have more bass delivered thro the rear comps than the front, evening out the sound distribution as well

Just bought a 2000 GTi (not sure id standard speakers are the same? :? ) and thought the standard sound setup was very good, i would just have a sub running in addition to it and a good HU. this will give decent sound range, then upgrade the comps if its not loud enough 4 yus :D
