on 195,45,16 lowered 75mm i hardly get any rubbing (had to take the rear mudguards off as the rear tyres were rubbing on that)
occasionally if im going too fast down a bumpy road it screeches as the tyre hits the car somehwhere at the rear, and of course full lock in reverse is the worst!

Damn, I wanted to get some 16's but I don't want any rubbing :(

Just one more question about this, do they rub (in full lock in reverse) because you've lowered it, or would it do that anyway even at standard height?
to get away with no rubbing, get 195/40/16s

im 100% sure they wont rub with 195/40/16s

195 = width of tyre
40 = height of tyre, in this case 40% of 195
16 = alloy wheel diameter

195,40,16's are abit more yes as they are rarer and more sought after.

you will not get any rubbing at -50mm on a mk5 with 16's at 195,45,16 as that was what i dropped mine at first and that was with 3 of us sitting in it.

mk5 had slightly rolled arches btw Ben, so 195/40/16s are ideal for mk4.

cheers

yes they probably will charge u more, halfords buy in all sorts of tyre sizes, even a rare 215/35/17s for my mate, :o

IMO i think buying online tyres, then buying a set of wheels from, say ebay, youll save a lot more. :)

I've removed the sun visor that was there 'cause I wasn't too keen on it.
Those are nice alloys 8) ... would go nice with a red car... probably on a golf cos the big wheels wont be as much of an issue as on a polo.
