Probably not, for the basic Polo GTi I reckon it's going to be approx £15k OTR, by the time you've added a few toys you're probably looking at £17-18, which IMO, is silly money for a Polo, as nice as they are.:)

Found some info here:

http://media.vw.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=9715

"The price in Germany will be: Euro 18,950" works out at £13,000 with todays exchange rate. If it sticks to that price my name will definitely be down for one! If not may consider an import.

Any one who's fancy at Photoshop fancy showing us what a black version might look like??

I looked at the Euro price as well - and laughed! My new 130TDI Sport is arriving next week (with a bit of luck!) and it is costing over £16k with extras added. The dealer told me that they are expecting the base price of the GTI to be around £15,000-15,500 although most people will add extras as they are not expecting much, if any, more equipment over the Sport spec.

Personally, I'd rather stick with my diesel having seen the pics. The GTI is nice but not as nice as the Golf GTI which is not that much dearer.

Exactly. And here lies the problem with the Polo GTi. They are fantastic cars, but for just that little bit more, you get so much more car..

As for £13k- very seriously doubt it'll be about that when we get it here, as said in previous posts it's going to be nigh on £15k for one- therefore making itself rival such cars as the Cooper S...

It's a gorgeous car, and I think it's going to really come into it's own on the used car market. Reason I say this is because I honestly don't think it'll make that many sales at new, so depreciation will be higher, thus making for future bargains 12-18 months down the line, which has got to be a good thing really.:)

I agree with Tom, its going to be too close in price to the Golf, once you've spec'd it.

Im now thinking of a secondhand MK5 GTI or an S3, probably end up with another diesel! LOL

Heh.:)

I'm keeping current Golf for about another 10-11 months and by then i'll be in the market for a nearly new GTi, 3.2 V6 A3 or quite possibly an EOS if they have a good engine in it.:)

Different rims than the other pics posted on here but still a tad small in my view.

Cool, VW are giving away free dolly birds with the new GTi

Those wheels look like a fusion of the Exors and the new alloys fitted to the Mk5 R32! I'm not sure that red "works" all that well though, maybe it's just the indoor lighting that is making it look a little odd, but in my eyes the black front grille looks a bit wierd where it meets the leading edge of the bonnet?

I want to see one in black
