erm... (get ur glasses out for the essay!)
ive just spent the morning phoning round about little power mods! i thought about maybe a chip and cam. i phoned dubsport and they said u couldnt get cams even tho there on pipers lists. then i tried awesome gti (both within an hour or so drive from me) and they put me onto a bloke called steve about polishing and porting. wot a top bloke! i spoke to him 4 about an hour, hes a world of information. he basically does all the head work for dubsport, awesome and wicked (RIP). all the dubsport show cars heads were done by him, including things like the twin engined vr6 turbo mk3 golf which was pushing over 400 horses from each engine (check out dubsports site). he basically said just doing the head would put the 16v upto 120bhp and increase the torque massively. with cams itd push 140-150 (which i dont want, i want 2 make the car last abit). he also said just with the head done it wont effect engine life span, with regular oil changes of course (5-7K). its expensive tho itd b £900+ all done and dusted. bit much for me right now but i now know which direction i'll head in when cash is more available.
the bonus of it all is no need to tell the insurance, he used to be a recovery agent and in his time (150+ crashes) he saw the inspectors twice! he says its the same 4 chips and cams also, i know its naughty but christ they dont half have u off!
i said id put his no. up on here and hes fine with it. give him a bell hes a top bloke see wot he can do for u all!

I never mind essays. Heck, it's what I have to do often enough IRL anyway!

On topic;

Sounds like he knows his stuff. At 900 pounds, he'd better!

I'm still amazed at the insurance companies in the UK, but that's a different thread alltogether...
